James Morgan Robinson, Sr., 83, of Bordentown, died Saturday December 8th at his residence. Born in Bordentown, he was a lifelong resident. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, Mr. Robinson was a former co-owner of Ja-Mar Laundry located behind his home in the late 1940's and co-owner/owner of Fieldsboro Welding Co. in Fieldsboro during the late 1950's, 60's and 70's. He was also owner of Morgan's Tavern in Bordentown during the early 1970's. He retired in 1987 from Ocean Spray Cranberries Inc. where he was the Maintenance Supervisor. He was a member and former Captain of the Humane Rescue Squad, a member of the Humane Fire Company and the secretary of the Bordentown Fireman Relief Association. Mr. Robinson was a former Bordentown City Commissioner of Public Safety and a Burlington County Councilman. He was a Master Mason of the Mount Moriah Lodge #28, a member of the Crescent Shrine, the Scottish Rites, the American Legion of both Bordentown and Fieldsboro and the Bordentown Elks Lodge. He enjoyed making furniture, cooking and baking.
Son of the late William and Lillian Robinson; brother of the late William Robinson; husband of the late Jane Tennesen Robinson and father of the late James M. Robinson, Jr., he is survived by his wife, Joan Neely Robinson; his son and daughter-in-law, Charles ""Chick"" and Cheryl Robinson; his daughter, Neely Robinson, all of Bordentown; his grandchildren, Kelly and her husband Mathew D'Oria, Ryan Robinson, Colleen and her husband Thomas Krowicki, Barbara and Courtney Robinson; great grandchildren, Aidan Robinson D'Oria; sister-in-law, Roberta and her husband Ronald Muskewitz; good friend and cousin Richard Crosby; a nephew and many nieces.
Funeral service will be held 8pm Wednesday at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St. Bordentown. Friends may call Wednesday 6-8pm at the funeral home.
