James Samuel Martin, 75, of Yardville passed away Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Merwick Care Center in Plainsboro. Born in Chester, PA, he resided in southeastern PA and southern NJ before moving to Boston and later Hamilton Twp. following his marriage to wife Patricia. Jim was educated and employed as an Electronics Technologist at several companies before eventually retiring from Bristol Myers Squibb in 2001.
An electronics enthusiast by trade and hobby, Jim often tinkered with circuit boards and his prized watch collection . He was fascinated by weather phenomena and astronomy, and often observed severe storms from the shelter of his garage . Jim loved classical music, Frank Sinatra, and Tony Bennett , and was an avid rea der who enjoyed frequent trips to his local library. In his later years, Jim especially enjoyed spending time with his beloved grandchildren .
Son of the late John and Martha Martin, James is survived by his wife of 41 years, Patricia (nee Wantuck ); his daughter, Jessica Martin of Yardville; his son and daughter-in-law, Christopher S. and Kirstin Martin of Collingswood; his grandchildren Quinn and Caleb Martin ; his brother, Dr. John Martin of Secane , PA ; and his sister-in-law and her husband, Lucille and Charles Hess of Chester, NJ .
Services will be held at a later date to be determined under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown.
M emorial contributions may be made in Jim's name to the Community Food Bank of NJ, the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, Reading Is Fundamental, or a local food pantry or literacy program of the donor's choice.
