Obituary

The world lost a great man on Thursday, November 26, 2015, with the sudden passing of James R. Holzbaur, 81, of Hamilton, NJ. Better known as Jim, he was a hardworking, wise and humble man who enjoyed life with his wife of 57 years, the late Adelma Holzbaur. When not at home, you could find him fishing at Island Beach State Park or riding his motorcycle with his buddies, The Ridge Runners.

He was proud to have served his country in the US Navy as a fireman on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. He also obtained a Black Seal Boiler License and worked as a machinist for Fairless Steel Mill for many years.

Jim was born on January 6, 1934. Son of the late Walter and Violet Holzbaur, he grew up in Lakeside Park with his sister, the late Myrtle Van Arsdale. He remained a lifetime area resident where he devoted his time to family, friends and the outdoors.

Predeceased by his loving wife, parents, sister and daughter, Dorothy Jean Holzbaur, he is survived by his children, Georgene and Thomas Ivins, Marlene and Raymond Dintinger and James M. and Debra Holzbaur; his grandchildren, Jessica Otero and her husband David, Erin, Sarah and Brittany Dintinger and Alanna Ivins, as well as two great granddaughters, Rowan and Riley Otero.

Funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, December 5th at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. Entombment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton. Friends may call Friday, December 4th from 6-9 pm and again Saturday from 9:30 am until the time of service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers and to honor Jim's passion for the outdoors, please make a donation to Restore the Shore.
