Obituary

James V. D'Amore Jr., 64, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 16, 2020. Jim was born in Newark and moved to Edison when he was young. He grew up living next door to his aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends and later moved to Clarksburg in 1985 with his family.

Jim is survived by his loving sister, Diane D'Amore Wescott, her husband, Arthur C. Wescott Sr., their son, Aj, his wife, Nikki, and their son David Kent. Jim also leaves behind his Godmother, Margaret (D'Amore) Dafgek, and many loving cousins. He was fondly referred to as "Cuz"by many and was treated as an extension of many families and friends.

Jim was a diesel mechanic and worked alongside his brother-in-law, Art for many years before following his dad's footsteps to be a truck driver. He started by working for many local companies before he was able to buy his own tractor and trailer and start his own company, JVD Transportation. There was nothing he loved more, except for being with his family, than being on the road and traveling the country.

When his health became and issue, Jim sold his truck and started a new venture by working for his cousin, Jim D'Amore at JDM Engineering. (Since there were a total of five James D'Amore's, each one named after the other, it always became a funny family topic of conversation). While working for JDM Engineering, he once again was able to find happiness out on the road, doing what he loved.

Jim loved the outdoors, fishing with his dad and camping with the family. His favorite place to visit was Lake Placid in the Adirondacks, which he enjoyed in all seasons but especially in the Fall for the Flaming Leaves Festival and Octoberfest. Second to Lake Placid was vacationing in Down East Maine and Blue Hill where he spent many yearly vacations with family on Toddy Pond.

Jim was a very special person and loved by anyone who knew him. His life was filled with many challenges and he overcame so many of them. He was a true warrior and he fought may battles with his health.

He will be remembered by his smile, great sense of humor and the ability to make everyone laugh. Jim loved being around others, especially family and enjoyed spending holidays, family reunions, and Beerfest's with his famous limoncello. Jim had the biggest heart and was generous with his love and kindness. He was truly a good person, loving son, brother, uncle, and great uncle and will always live on in the memories of those that loved him. Rest easy Jim.

A visitation will be held from 11-1:30 on Tuesday, September 22 nd at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St, Allentown. Interment will follow in the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery in Arneytown.

Memorial contributions may be made in Jim's name to the Acoustic Neuroma Association at https://www.anausa.org/forms/ana-donation
