James Costalas, 86, of Allentown, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022. Born in Monessen, PA, he resided in Brooklyn for many years, before moving to Long Island after he married his wife, Mollie. They later retired to Allentown, NJ. A US Army veteran, James worked as a carpenter, primarily for garage door companies. He was a longtime member of Kimisis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church in Brooklyn. He was a talented woodworker and enjoyed cooking, traveling, and spending time at his home in Florida. James was creative and generous and has touched many people's lives in countless ways.
Son of the late Arietta and Miltiades Costalas, he was predeceased by his loving wife, Mollie; his brothers, John, Nicholas, and George; his sisters-in-law, Alice and Ann; and his nephews, Stephen and Peter. James is survived by his brothers and sisters-in-law, Peter, Steven and Virginia, Carmen, and Georgia. He is also survived by his nephews and nieces, Michael and Anna, Georgia, James and Barbara, Loretta, Michael, Gregory, John, Christina, Nicholas and Denise, and Peter and Angela, as well as many great nieces and nephews and a great great niece and a great great nephew.
A Funeral Mass will be held 10am on Friday, June 10 th with a viewing from 9:30 until the time of service at Kimisis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, 224 18th St., Brooklyn, NY 11215. Interment will follow in the Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn.
Arrangements are under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown, NJ.
