James A. Bowers

James A Bowers, 83, of Allentown, passed away Monday, October 5, 2026 with his wife at his side. Born in Hackensack, he was a graduate of Hackensack High School and earn his bachelor's degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Jim loved cars and worked in the automobile industry for most of his life. After spending time working for Volkswagen and Ford he opened and ran his own autobody shop, Russell’s Auto Salon for 32 years. After he sold the business, Jim established Medcoat Industries, a medical equipment repair company.

Jim also enjoyed history and politics, always keeping up with current events. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He adored his wife, Terry, and if he wasn’t by her side, you could find him working in his garage.

Predeceased by his son, Brian Bowers and by his brother, Wayne Bowers and sister, Elizabeth Gelewski; Jim is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 28 years, Theresa D. Bowers; his brother and sister-in-law, Robert Bruce and Faith Bowers; his stepchildren, Doreen Tillman and her husband John and James Schottman; his grandchildren, Jamie Kenney and her husband Josh, Scott Bowers and his wife Katie, William Schottman and his wife Abby, Wyatt Shaffery, Garrett Shaffery, Sam Schottman, and James Schottman; his great grandchildren, William and Gioia Kenney and Lilly and Isla Schottman as well as many nieces and nephews.

Services will be private. Arrangements are under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
