Irene Roddey, 85, of Manahawkin, passed away Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Summerville at Stafford, Manahawkin. Born in Brooklyn, she resided in Woodbridge for most of her life before moving to Shickshinny, PA in 1987 and then to Manahawkin in 2005. Irene retired from Western Electric later known as AT&T in 1987 after 40 years of service. She enjoyed to walk and crochet and was an avid reader and could often be found in her favorite rocking chair.

Daughter of the late Therese and John Borthwick and predeceased by her husband, Arthur Roddey; Irene is survived by her sister-in-law, Catherine Borthwick and her nieces, Elise Eisenberg and her husband Steven of Allentown and Elaine Wesley of Rocky Hill, CT.

A memorial service will be held 11am on Thursday April 29th at Allentown Presbyterian Church. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SOCH Hospice, 1140 Route 72 W, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. Arrangements under the direction of the Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
