Obituary

Howard L. Cornell , 97, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at the Masonic Village in Burlington Township, NJ. Born in Burholme Park, PA he had lived most of his adult life in various locations in Burlington County and finally settled at the Masonic Village 22 years ago. He was an honorably discharged Sergeant of WWII with the Army and worked for RCA before retiring from The Budd Company of North East Philadelphia. He enjoyed singing in the choirs of churches that he attended and was a member of the Maple Shade/Moorestown Lodge #281 F & A.M. He volunteered relentlessly for the residents at the Masonic Home and for Acacia Hospice. Howard was especially proud of the fact that he had donated over 100 gallons of blood to the Red Cross to help others.

Predeceased by his parents: Ralph M. and Helen Mae Cornell, his brother: Ralph M. Cornell Jr. and his beloved wife: Margaret Cornell he is survived by his daughters: Margaret Webster Griner, Elizabeth Lefferts Betts and Barbara Ann Cornell and her husband Dane Scott. His grandchildren: Joseph John Griner II, James Jason Griner(Erin McCormack), Jennifer Jessica Griner(Michael Bencivengo), Rebecca Eileen Miller(Scott), Rachel Buchi(David), Alicia Backman(Rich), Katherine Scott Cornell and William Howard Scott Cornell. His great Grandchildren: Jonathon and Kayla Griner, Nicholas, Hayden and Ethan Bencivengo, Noah, Bruce and Natalie Miller and Mackenzie, Carson and Hazel Backman.

A Memorial Service celebrating Howard's life will be held 11am Saturday, May 15 at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ. Friends may call from 10 am until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Howard's name to the Masonic Charity Foundation, 902 Jacksonville Rd, Burlington, NJ 08016.
