Reverend Horace M. Frantz (94) passed away on October 13, 2018 at the Masonic Village in Burlington, N.J. He was born March 24, 1924.
Horace was preceded in death by his wife Roberta (Malsbury) Frantz and his daughter Barbara Jane Rosenberg. He is survived by a son, William Frantz and his wife Beverly of Catawba, SC; son-in-law, Jim Rosenberg of Tabernacle N.J.; a granddaughter, Lori Fetterhoff and a grandson, Stephen Frantz both from Harrisburg Pa. and four great granddaughters. He is also survived by his sister, Marjorie Flock of Coltsneck NJ and several nieces and nephews.
Horace attended Grove City College, and graduated from Allegheny College in 1945. After graduating Allegheny College he pursued his Theological training at Drew Seminary and graduated in May 1948. He was ordained an Elder in the Southern New Jersey Conference of the Methodist Church in July 1948.
He ministered to several churches in NJ, Hammonton, Como in Spring Lake Heights, Hamilton Square, South Vineland, New Egypt, Cookstown, Farmingdale, Allentown, Emley's Hill, Clarksburg, DeBows, Siloam, Absecon, and Pearson Memorial in Hamilton Township. In addition to serving these churches, he was active in the work of the Town and Country Commission, was Conference Statistician, Secretary to the Council on Finance and Administration, and was on the staff of the Methodist Relay. He preached full time for 41 years and retired in 1986. After retiring he worked for Special Technical Services in Allentown for 9 years before retiring in 1998.
He was an excellent carpenter, gunsmith and furniture maker and enjoyed hunting with his family and friends. Horace was a member of Mt. Moriah No. 28, F & AM, a member of the Scottish Rite, an honorary member of Pyramid Lodge No. 92, and a member of the Tall Cedars No. 4.
A viewing will be held at the Peppler Funeral Home in Allentown, NJ on Thursday, October 18 th from 6-8pm. Funeral Service will be held 11am on Friday at the Allentown United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the Emley's Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Allentown UMC, 23 Church St., Allentown, NJ 08501 or a charity of the donor's choice.
