Hilda Hardman Garwood, 95, formerly of Crosswicks passed away June 29, 2013 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital Hamilton.  Born in Altoona, PA she moved to Trenton in 1923 and was a long time Crosswicks resident.  Hilda graduated from Hamilton High School and McKinley Hospital School of Nursing and assisted her husband, Dr. Norman W. Garwood as his office nurse, when he opened his medical practice in 1939 in Crosswicks.  They were married January 1940 and resided in Crosswicks for over 70 years.  Hilda was a member of the Mercer County Women's Auxiliary, the Crosswicks Historical Society, St. James Episcopal Church in Allentown and the United Methodist Church in Crosswicks.

Predeceased by her husband, Dr. Norman Garwood and two sisters, Helen Metzler of Ellenton, FL and Alma Hardman of Crosswicks, Hilda is survived by her daughter, Nancy Garwood Pileggi and husband Frank (Torino) Pileggi of Ft. Myers, FL; a son, Norman W. Garwood Jr. and his wife Yvette of Voorhees; three grandsons, David W. Garwood and his wife Bernadette of Chesterfield, Jeffery Garwood and  his wife Jackie of Marlboro and John Norman Toth of Ft. Myers, FL: six great grandchildren, Brielle, Madison, Ryan and Lauren , Ashley and Chase  as well as many nieces and nephews.

Private services will be held on Wednesday, July 3 ^rd .  Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Episcopal Church, 1040 Yardville-Allentown Road, Trenton, NJ  08620.  Arrangements made under the directions of Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
