Obituary

Helga Roswitha Dalton passed away peacefully on Monday, May 13, 2024 in Burlington, New Jersey.

Helga was born on November 20, 1937 in Bissingen, Germany. She was the daughter of the late Alfred and Margarete Unkel. Helga is predeceased by her brother, Manfred Unkel, and her husband, Dieter Dalton.

Helga and Dieter immigrated to the United States in 1957 and became citizens in 1976. Helga and Dieter were business partners with Loeffler's Provisions. They also owned an ice cream shop in Bordentown called "Scott's." Helga worked for Jack Lang Clothing Store and then the Bank of Mid Jersey. She spent most of her life in New Jersey. Helga lived in Bordentown Township and Columbus for many years.

Helga, known as Oma by her family, was a fiery spirit who was proud of her German culture. Oma made delicious German cakes and cookies for holidays and birthdays. Oma loved spending time with her grand and great-grandchildren, her son and daughter, and her friends and neighbors. Oma loved talking to people.

Helga is survived by her daughter Sylvia D. Williams, son-in-law James Williams, son Thomas M. Dalton, and daughter-in-law Jennifer Dalton. Helga is also survived by her granddaughter Ashley Williams, granddaughter Rebecca and her husband Milt Zindel and their children Hayleyann and Oaklee, granddaughter Elizabeth Dalton and her fiancé Nathan Potts, and granddaughter Christiana Dalton. Helga is also survived by extended family including nieces and nephews, cousins, and other relatives living in Germany and the US.

Helga's family would also like to recognize the staff at Masonic Village at Burlington for their attentive and compassionate care.
