Helen VanOrkey Smith, 88, of Allentown, passed away Wednesday September 10th. Born in Trenton, she resided in the Allentown area most of her life. Helen was lifetime member of the Allentown Union AME Church where she actively served as a Sunday school teacher for several years and was the Sunday School Superintendent for over 25 years; she was a member of the Church Stewardess Board and a member of the Christina Smith Missionary Society. Helen was a past member of the Washington Twp. Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a past member of the Washington Twp. and Millstone Twp. Senior Citizens.

Wife of the late Clarence Smith, she is survived by a sister-in-law, Marian Smith of East Windsor and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 11am on Friday September 26th at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. Interment will follow in Allentown Methodist Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 10am until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Christina Smith Missionary Society, C/O the Union AME Church, 72 Church St. Allentown, NJ 08501
