Obituary

East Windsor - Helen T. Povilaitis, 87, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2015, at Meadow Lakes in East Windsor after a long illness. She was born Helen Theresa White on October 18, 1927, in Fountain Springs, Pennsylvania. She met her future husband, George Povilaitis, while working at his family's restaurant and tavern, CG's in Fountain Springs. They married August 26, 1950, in Hollywood, CA, while vacationing with George's sister. They were married for 60 years prior to George's death in 2010.

A longtime resident of Princeton and West Windsor, Helen worked for 30 years at Princeton High School, where she used early computers for attendance records, before retiring in the 1980's. She was active in several organizations, holding office in the Princeton Business and Professional Women's Club and the Princeton Getaway Club. Over the years Helen and George traveled to Europe and Central America, but during later years vacationed mostly in the United States. Helen always helped her family, many of them living with her over the years, including her mother, who she took care of for five years.

Predeceased by her husband, George Povilaitis, her parents, George White and Helen Minnick White Meyers, her sisters Phyllis Heckman and Charlotte Tindall, and her brothers George "Pumpkin" White, Kenneth "Mickey" White, Wilbur White, and Elmer White, Helen is survived by her brother, Russell White (Linda) of Andreas, PA, sisters-in-law Lois White of Fountain Springs, PA and Dolores White of Nazareth, PA. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and their families, including Frank Tindall (Crystal) of Allentown, NJ and Sue Tindall Stilwell (Jeff) and family of Austin, TX, both of whom she treated as her own children. She will be greatly missed.

Arrangements and cremation are being handled by Peppler Funeral Home of Allentown, NJ. A memorial service and burial will be held in Fountain Springs, PA at a later date.
