Helen E. Diszler, 95, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2017 at Genesis Health Care-Mercerville Center in Hamilton Township. Born in the Hopelawn section of Woodbridge Township, she resided in Hamilton for the last 62 years. A graduate of Woodbridge High School, Class of 1940, she retired as an administrative assistant with the United States Department of Agriculture and was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church. Helen was a World War II veteran of the United States Coast Guard and was the first woman in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania to be sworn in to the SPARS during a ceremony on her birthday at the Presque Isle Coast Guard Station on Lake Erie in 1943. She was a charter member of the Women in Military Service of America (WIMSA) and her name was added to the WIMSA Historic Roll of Honor. Helen was also a member of the Colonial and Hamilton Senior Citizens Groups.
Daughter of the late Stanley and Helen Soyak Stahon and wife of the late Mathias "Matt" Diszler, Helen was predeceased by her brother, Lester "Sonny" Stahon and sisters, Julia (Dan) Witkowsky and Ann (John) Fall. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Kathleen Diszler of Hamilton; son, Kenneth M. Diszler of Pohoa, HI; grandchildren, Robert M. Diszler of Hamilton and Suzanne E. Diszler of Chesterfield; great granddaughters; Sarah and Emily Diszler; sister-in-law, Kay Stahon of Daytona Beach, FL; niece, Cathy Vandertuyn of Middlesex, NJ and nephews, Jack (Gail) Nugent of Pennsville, Dan (Bonnie) Witkowsky of Littleton, CO, Leonard (Linda) Witkowsky of Avenel, NJ, John (Marge) Fall of Longwood, FL, William Fall of Orlando, FL, James (Carol) Fall of Northeast, PA, Tim (Marcy) Stahon of Dayton Beach and Les (Patricia) Stahon of North Edison, NJ.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11am on Wednesday at St. John the Baptist Church, Allentown. Interment will follow in the Field of Honor in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton. Friends may call Wednesday from 9:30-10:30am at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 So. Main St., Allentown.
