Helen J. Allen, 100, passed away Friday, January 2, 2015 at Atrium Post Acute Care of Lawrenceville. She was born, raised and lived in Crosswicks, NJ, before moving to Bordentown City. She had worked for the Edward R. Johnstone Training and Research Center for 30 years and retired as the dining service supervisor as well as the Union President for 8 years.

Helen was honored by Bordentown City for over 25 years of community service. She was instrumental in establishing the SHARE Program, was elected Grand Marshall, was Senior Citizen of the year of Burlington County and was Past President of the Bordentown City Senior Citizens.

Predeceased by her parents Walter and Hannah Smith, her brother, John Smith and sisters, Ruth Gadson and Alice Vaughn, she is survived by her brother: Richard Smith and his wife Jean of Crosswicks, her niece: Karen Gadson, her nephew: Brian Vaughn and dear friend Yavonne Astor.

Funeral Services will be 1 pm Thursday, January 8 at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown. Interment will follow in North Crosswicks Cemetery, Hamilton Township. Friends may call Thursday 11 am until time of service at the funeral home.
