Obituary

Gunnar C. Szul, 22, passed away suddenly on January 25, 2020. Born in Princeton, NJ, he was a lifetime Allentown resident.  He was a graduate of Allentown High School Class of 2016 and attended West Virginia University.

Gunnar's incredibly bright and beautiful smile bracketed by gorgeous dimples was truly an expression of his warm heart, wonderful persona and remarkable charm.  He was a shining light in our lives and will remain so in our hearts.  It comes as no wonder that he was blessed with a beautiful network of friends that are too numerous to mention.  You know who you are, and we THANK YOU for all your support and love.

Gunnar was predeceased by his loving Bubby and Pop-Pop, Norma and Bob Potocny.  He is survived by his mother, Stephanie Potocny Szul and her partner, Adam Adamiec and his sons, Konrad and Kamil (Lisa); his aunts and uncles, Sharon Wolin, Marilyn Kress, Patrick Alaggio, Lisa Hengeli and Michael Martin, Joe and Sue Hengeli, Michele Heinz and Mark Sacchetti, Lesley and Bobby Blaser, Aaron Potocny, Drea Jacome Potocny. Jennifer Blaser; his grandparents, Jean and Bob Blaser his cousins, Chase and Bree Potocny/Raelynn, Courtney Hengeli and Gerry Tuccillo, Gabriella, Madison and Natalie Tuccillo, Cole and Ava Heinz, Aidan, Ethan and Jude Blaser, Bella, Isaiah and Sofia Potocny, Kendall Adamiec. Gunnar is also survived by his father, Brian C. Szul and his significant other Arlene Gonzalez; his paternal grandfather, Walter Szul, paternal grandmother, Mary Szul; great aunts and uncles, Beverly Beckett, Helen Leslie, Louis and Joyce Beckett, June and Stephen Yensensky;his aunt and uncle, Tina and Jack Toth and cousin, Alyssa Toth.  There have been so many people that have influenced Gunnar's life including, the Barans, the Rugo's, Cynthia DeLorenzo, the Rauschers, the Coppola's/Knaebes,  the Evans, Susan Colbeck, Susan Clerico, Karen Collins, Michele Bush and Dona Daesener.

A visitation with the family will be held at the in Schulte Hall of the Allentown Presbyterian Church, 20 High St., Allentown, NJ from 5-8pm on Wednesday, January 29 th and again in the Church at 10am on Thursday January 30 th .  A funeral service will begin at 11 am in the Allentown Presbyterian Church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gunnar's name to Crossroads C/O Allentown Presbyterian Church, PO Box 122, Allentown, NJ 08501.  Arrangements are under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
