Gretchen Stoughton Crain, 51, of Jupiter, FL, passed away on March 21, 2020. Born in Doylestown, PA, she resided in West Long Branch and Wanamassa, NJ prior to moving to Jupiter, FL 15 years ago. She was a graduate of Shore Regional High School in West Long Branch, NJ, attended Wood Tobé-Coburn Fashion School in New York, NY, and later earned her bachelor's degree from Monmouth University in West Long Branch, NJ. Gretchen was a teacher for many years working at Wall Township Intermediate School in New Jersey, The Weiss School in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Wellington Preparatory School in Lake Worth, FL. She most recently was the Human Resources Manager of Viking Utility where she truly loved her job and colleagues and considered them a second family. Gretchen was a beautiful person who cared deeply about the people she loved - especially her daughter. She was a devoted mother and would say her daughter was her greatest accomplishment. Gretchen also enjoyed everything about Florida – the beach, the sea life, paddle-boarding, the sunshine, and of course her friends. Gretchen will be deeply missed and her family and loved ones will forever cherish the memories they had with her.
Predeceased by her father, Merle J. Crain; Gretchen is survived by her beloved daughter, Ava Rae of Jupiter; her loving mother, Jane S. Crain of Allentown, NJ; her twin brother, Jeffrey T. Crain of Pennsylvania; her sister and brother-in-law, Sarah Anne and Charles Carey Sr. and her nephew and niece, Charles D. Jr. and Julia Rose, all of Allentown, NJ.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 pm followed by a service on Tuesday, January 12th at North Palm Beach Country Club, 951 US Highway 1, North Palm Beach, Florida. Inurnment will be private. Northwood Funeral Home in West Palm Beach, Florida is in charge of arrangements.
