Gregory James Gill , 65, departed this life on July 19, 2022 in Philadelphia, following an extended illness. Born in Trenton, he was a lifelong resident of Crosswicks. Son of the late Herbert J and Barbara A (Grosskreuz ) Gill, Greg was a kind, humble, gentle man, confident in his beliefs and convictions. His steady and reliable presence served to anchor and calm those around him. Greg was more than willing to give a helping hand when needed, bringing kindness and positivity to everyone he met. In his spare time, Greg enjoyed authenticating mini model war tanks, model soldiers, camping, refurbishing his childhood train set for his children and reading a good book. Greg was a teacher and fellow explorer of nature, respectful of all things along the way. A graduate of Davis & Elkins College with a BA in History and Temple University with an M.A in American History, Greg shared his knowledge at the NJ State Archives for almost 40 years. His greatest love in life, however, was his family.
Survivors include his best friend and wife: Beth Lawrence-Gill, three children: Leslie Gilman (Garrison), Robin (JJ), and James Gill. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Jase Joseph Martell and Savannah Gilman, his brother: Jack (Anne), nephews: Grant and Hunter, and many friends and relatives.
A celebration of Greg's life will be held at 11am on Saturday, September 10 at the Crosswicks Methodist Church, 535 Ward Ave, Crosswicks, NJ 08515. In lieu of flowers, Greg can be remembered through donations to the Chesterfield Township Historical Society, Crosswicks Library Company or Crosswicks United Methodist Church.
