Glenn Herndon Corrington, 85, of Lake Ariel, PA, passed away Tuesday, December 9th at Wayne County Medical Center, Honesdale, PA. Born in Kadoka, South Dakota on May 19th 1923, he was a graduate of Custer High School in Custer, South Dakota. He attended the South Dakota School of Mines and the University of Minnesota, where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering. He married Helen Mae Knudsen on June 29th 1946 in Minneapolis. A US Navy veteran serving during World War II; Mr. Corrington worked his entire career at RCA and General Electric, where he held various senior leadership positions in the Aerospace Division. He was a pioneer in the early days of the space industry, having been involved in the launch of TIROS I, the world's first weather satellite, which greatly enhanced the ability to forecast major weather events, such as hurricanes, with higher accuracy. Later he was involved in development and deployment of the Global Positioning System. After retirement, he was asked by a former colleague to serve as President of Fairchild Controls during a time of transition for that company. Mr. Corrington was an avid golfer and an accomplished pilot who loved to fly his own airplane.
Preceded in death by his wife, Helen, his son John and sister Ruby Flocke; he is survived by his brothers Murlan, Lester and Dale Corrington; his sons, Donald, David and Thomas Corrington; his daughter Diane Halmo; ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be held from 2-5pm on Saturday, December 13th at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown, NJ.
