IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Geraldine
Umstead
March 30, 1934 – July 9, 2024
Geraldine "Geri/Deanie" Umstead, 90, of Philadelphia, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at The Clare Estate in Bordentown. Born in Crosswicks, she was raised in Trenton and was a longtime Philadelphia resident prior to moving to The Clare Estate. Geri owned and operated Geri Engraving, a jewelry engraving and repair shop located on jeweler's row in Philadelphia. Fiercely independent, Geri loved people and had many dear friends that were like family to her. She loved telling jokes and making people laugh; her quick wit put a smile on many faces over the years. Geri spent the summer months at her campsite at Estell Manor Park near Atlantic City where she made many lifelong friends.
Daughter of the late Frieda and Harry Umstead, she was predeceased by five siblings, Bill Muehleisen, Susie Rochford, Betty Stout, Evie Shipp, and her twin brother, whom she was so proud of and who held a very special place in her heart, Jerry Umstead. Geri is survived by her brother, Jonah Umstead; her beloved dog Samantha; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, July 17th at the North Crosswicks Cemetery in Hamilton. Arrangements are under the direction of the Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
Geri loved animals. She was an advocate of animal rescue and would support rescue and shelter organizations. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Geri's name to the Women's Animal Center, 3839 Richlieu Rd, Bensalem, PA 19020. www.womensanimalcenter.org
