George Richard Walter, Sr., 73, of West Windsor, passed away Monday, December 20, 2010 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital Hamilton. Born in Trenton, he was a longtime resident of West Windsor. A US Navy Reservist, ""Dick"" was a pharmacist who owned and operated Walter's Pharmacy in Allentown for 40 years. He was a former committee member and Mayor of West Windsor Twp., a member of the Gothic Fraternal Lodge #270 F.A.&M. of Hamilton Square, past president and Emeritus member of the Allentown Lions Club, past president of the NJ Pharmaceutical Association and former member of the Allentown Economic Development Committee. He was a faithful member of the Hamilton Square Baptist Church and a local supporter of the Allentown community.
Predeceased by his parents George and Dorothy Walter, Dick is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Frances C. Walter; three loving children and their spouses, Cindy and Ray Canter of Allentown, Rick and Belinda Walter of Allentown and Sandy and Todd McGonigal of Hamilton; eight beloved grandchildren, Jennifer, Jared, Daniel, Todd Jr., Jillian, David, Kyle and Colleen; several nieces and nephews and a host of good neighbors and friends.
Funeral Services will be held 11am Friday, December 24th, at the Hamilton Square Baptist Church 3752 Nottingham Way Hamilton Sq. NJ 08690. Visitation will be held at the church Thursday evening from 4 to 8pm and again at Friday, 10am until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made in Dick's name to the Hamilton Square Baptist Church. Arrangements under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
