Obituary

George Ronald Lesnak of Browns Mills, passed away on April 9, 2023, at the age of 81. Born in Trenton, New Jersey, to George Lesnak and Ida Marie (Schweizer) Lesnak, he was raised in Crosswicks and graduated from William MacFarland High School, Bordentown, NJ.

His early love and desire to become n artist for Walt Disney sparked his interest in photography and art. He graduated from Temple University and The Philadelphia School of Art and freelanced as an illustrator for various magazines, including Humpty Dumpy, Highlights for Children, Child Life, and Jack & Jill. He taught Commercial Art at Burlington County Vo-Tech High School for 30 years, and nothing made him as proud as seeing his students succeed, many of whom have maintained contact with him through the years.

His avid interest in nature, especially herpetology, historic New Jersey landmarks, and farmland was the basis for many of his photographs and paintings. He loved traveling throughout the South, especially the Everglades, but was just as happy trekking through the Pine bogs or local streams looking for reptiles, amphibians, and native plants. His fondness for antique and classic cars led to his restoring his own and painting and pin-striping those of other collectors associated with various auto clubs in surrounding states.

George was independent, had a quick wit, a sometimes biting sense of humor, was cantankerous and stubborn, and was also a loyal friend and confidant.

George is preceded in death by his father George, mother Ida Marie, daughter Kimberly Delores, brother Ronald Fred and childhood friend, James Leming.

He is survived by his sister Darlene Merry and her husband John Richard Hamilton, and three nephews David Scott and John Paul Hamilton, and Ronald Fred Lesnak Jr. In addition to many cousins and lifelong friends, including Norm Warner and the Wieszczek family. He will be missed by many who knew him.

A Memorial service is planned for a future date.
