Obituary

George P. Dengler, 87, passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021, at his home in Crosswicks, NJ with his loving family by his side. Born in Chicago, IL, George grew up in Hedding, NJ and later settled in Crosswicks. He was an Army Veteran, Specialist First Class, and Reservist who was drafted into the Army 138th Ordinance in France, and then again at Ft. Dix during the Berlin Crisis. After discharge, George worked for Rice & Holman Ford where he was promoted to General Manager of the Heavy-Duty Truck Sales Division, earning many accolades along the way. He then started his own business selling heavy duty trucks, construction equipment, and airplanes. He was a champion at motorcycle endurance racing and long jumps. But his passion was flying airplanes. With nearly 5,000 flying hours, he was a highly accomplished pilot certified with multiple ratings including aerobatics. He topped off his flying career when he acquired Red Wing Airport.

Son of the late Johanne L. Dengler, he was predeceased by his brother, Paul L. Dengler; niece, Jacqueline Dengler and brother-in-law, Daniel Placido. George is survived by his loving spouse of 58 years, M. Heide Dengler; his daughters, Erika Dengler-Pearson and her husband, John Tyminski, of Columbus, and Sr. Mary Clare (Rebecca C. Dengler) of Kansas City, MO; his grandsons, Evan Pearson of Columbus, Christopher Tyminski and his wife Shannon of Tabernacle, and Johnny Tyminski of Hawley, PA; his sister, Joan L. Placido, of Davidsonville MD; his sister-in-law, Cynthia Dengler; his nephews, Phil Dengler and his fiancé, Wendy, Springfield, NJ, Paul Dengler, of Columbus, NJ and John Placido, of Riva MD; his niece, Susan Placido, of Chester MD; his great nieces and nephews, Brittany and Kirk Dengler, Dane Dengler and Max and Laney Placido.

A viewing will be held Sunday, September 26th from 7:00-9:00 pm at Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St., Allentown. Interment will be private at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
