George Franklin Deacon, 92, of Lakewood died Friday, June 4th at Harrowgate in Lakewood. Born in Bordentown City, he resided there most of his life before moving to Long Beach Island following his retirement. George retired from the N.J. Psychiatric Hospital where he served as the business manager. An Army veteran of WW II, he served as a radio operator in the European Theatre. He was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Bordentown.
The son of the late George F. and Helen Wood Deacon and brother of the late Robert H. Deacon and Uncle of the late Douglas C. Deacon, he is survived by two nephews, Thomas P. Deacon of Califon, N.J. and Roger S. Deacon of West Chester, PA a sister-in-law, Kathryn M. Deacon of Moorestown and great-nieces and great-nephew; Lindsay, Natalie, Courtney and Matthew.
Graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Bordentown Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Bordentown, 200 Prince Street, Bordentown, N.J. 08505. Arrangements are under the direction of the Peppler Funeral Home of Bordentown.
