Frederick J. Walter, Jr. 96 of Columbus, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2026. Born in Robbinsville, Frederick was raised on the family farm in the Windsor area and lived in Dutch Neck for 33 years before moving to Columbus in 1994. A US National Guard veteran, he retired from McGraw Hill after 33 years of service. Frederick was an active member of the Columbus United Methodist Church and the Mt. Moriah F.&A.M. # 28 Lodge in Bordentown.
Son of the late Frederick and Edna Walter, he was predeceased by his beloved wife of 61 years, Edith Souders Walter; he is survived by a brother, Ken Walter; a sister, Margie Ervin; his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jim Souders, Claire Manger, Joan Buell, Mary Ice, Gladys Hyer and Grace Hedden as well as many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, June 16th from 10am-11am at the Peppler Funeral Home. A masonic service will be held at the funeral home beginning at 11am followed by a funeral service at 11:15am. Burial with military honors will follow in Cream Ridge Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Scleroderma Foundation at www.scleroderma.org.
