Frank Hancock Smith Jr., 89, passed away Monday, December 17, 2012 at Samaritan Hospice, in Mt. Holly. Born and raised in Franklin, NH, he lived in Titusville before moving to Columbus 27 years ago. Frank was a graduate of the University of New Hampshire and elected to the Phi Sigma Honorary Biological Society. In 1985 he retired from the American Cyanamid Company in Princeton where he worked as a research and development chemist. He was a WWII Navy veteran having achieved the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade. Frank enjoyed and held an amateur radio operator's license W2UNH, was a member of the Burlington Lodge No.2 F&AM and the Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Burlington.
Son of the late Frank and Mildred Smith, he is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Luella F. Smith; his two daughters and sons-in-law, Roxana and Scott Jordan of Flemington, NJ and Marilyn and Alan Ford of Hampton, NJ; his grandsons, Michael T. Sultzer and Ryan D. Ford as well as nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service celebrating Frank's life will be 11 am Wednesday, December 26 th at the Masonic Home Chapel, 902 Jacksonville Rd, Burlington. A Masonic Service will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Samaritan Healthcare and Hospice, 5 Eves Drive, Suite 300, Marlton, NJ 08053; the Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church,1308 Mt. Holly Road, Burlington, NJ 08016 or to the Masonic Charity Foundation, 902 Jacksonville Rd, Burlington, NJ 08016.
