IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Frank L.
Loretangeli
July 5, 1925 – September 18, 2023
Francisco (Frank) Louis Loretangeli, 98, who joined the U.S. Navy at age 17 to serve in the Second World War, passed away September 18, 2023 in the comfort of his home he resided in for 70 years as was his fervent wish. He was a graduate of St. Mary's School and William MacFarland High School where he lettered in football, basketball, and baseball (later going on to play semi-pro baseball as a catcher). After serving his country, he worked in the auto industry for Tony Rogers, the Mercantini's, and as Body Shop Manager for Bob Maguire Chevrolet where he earned many Service Supremacy Awards and his treasured Chevrolet ring before retiring after 30 years. He then formed with his wife, Patricia, L&L Appraisal Service, which he operated till he was 81.
Frank was strong in his Catholic faith and beliefs and coached C.Y.O. basketball opening his home to his players for haven, meals, guidance and mentorship; as well as welcoming and providing for the homeless and fostering orphans. He was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed waterfowl hunting, fishing, boating, crabbing and sailing (even making and sewing his own sails). He was a Life Member of Yapewi Aquatic Club for 60 plus years. He served as Mate in 1962, Captain in 1963 and Commodore in 1964. He served as Purser/Treasurer for over 20 years and participated on many club committees and events including the Shad dinners and Pig roasts. He was also a member and supporter of American Legion Post 26 of Bordentown.
Frank was a caring father who enjoyed spending time around the table with his family and loved his wife's cooking; being at the Shore and on his boat in Seaside Park; and special times with close family friends, the Delaney's, and traveling by boat to the Captain's Inn. He enjoyed working on, restoring, and building wooden boats. In his later years as he became homebound he looked forward to and enjoyed "going down the river" for lunch several times a week, sitting on his front porch and in his favorite chair, watching Notre Dame Football, chats with his brother Ferd and daily phone calls with his loyal loved ones.
He was the son of the late Sante and Florinda (Canulla) Loretangeli who after immigrating from Italy to the U.S. settled in Bordentown City on Miles Alley; where his cherished surviving sibling Ferdinand ("Uncle Ferd") Loretangeli still resides in the family home. Frank was predeceased by his loving wife of 61 years, Patricia (nee Magrelli) Loretangeli and baby daughter Angela. He is also predeceased by his siblings Sabatini Loretangeli; Orlando Loretangeli; Dino Loretangeli and Yolonda Foley. He is survived by four children, Patricia Mullen; Francis Loretangeli; Timothy Loretangeli and Teresa Loretangeli; two grandchildren, Sarah and Adam Loretangeli. He is also survived by caring longtime loyal friends and family Mark Wagner and Joann Delaney-Stack. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank Dr's Rosvold and Stawicki and loving caregiver Ganiyu Essaw.
A private and dignified military service with internment at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery was performed as he instructed. A public Celebration of Frank's amazing life will be held at a date to be determined; as anyone that knew Frank recognized his firm belief and legacy that you should celebrate and appreciate those you love each and every day of the year, not only on specific holidays and events. For this Celebration the family appreciates and requests that personal remembrances of Frank's wit, wisdom, and quotes be added to Peppler's online Guest Book.
Contributions may be made in Frank's name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Memorial Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
Frank's twinkling eyes, smile, sense of humor and laughter that could "light up a room" as well as his wisdom and stories will be deeply missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him. May his memory be a source of comfort and strength to those who mourn him. "Fair Winds, and following seas", Frank.
