F. Leonard Brown, 65, of FL, formerly of Monmouth County, died Monday, July 27th surrounded by family. Born in Long Branch, NJ, he was raised in Matawan and lived in Keyport, Tuckerton, Indiana and Allentown before relocating to Florida in 1996. He loved the warmth of family and friends and the beach. Lenny graduated from his beloved Red Bank Catholic in 1961 where he was on the championship football team. He attended Belmont Abbey College in NC and played soccer and baseball. He went on to graduate from Monmouth University in 1967 where he was a member of the ""Bandits"". Lenny taught school, wrote for newspapers and sold independently for major corporations nationwide. Lenny's passions were kids and sports. He was a referee and umpire for over 25 years with NJSIAA and loved every second of every game. He was the president of the Allentown Little League and raised money to keep the organization going so kids could enjoy it and never forgot a play, player, coach or officiating friends. Lenny cared about many people and always saw the good in them.
Lenny was married for 41 years to his beloved wife, Linda (Erdmann) and together they had five much loved sons, Bruce, Terence, Ryan, Tod and Yale. He adored his five grandchildren, Blair, Blake, Halie, Paige and Tobias. He is also survived by many cousins and friends.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated 10am on Monday, August 10th at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold. A visitation with the family will be held Sunday from 5-9pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. The family requests casual attire and please no flowers or Mass cards. Memorial contributions may be made in Lenny's name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 2200 N. Florida Mango Road, Suite 403, West Palm Beach, FL 33409
