Eva Elizabeth Rockhill, 89, of the Hornerstown section of Upper Freehold Township, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2013, at Bartley Healthcare in Jackson after an extended illness. Born in Imlaystown, she was a resident of Hornerstown for nearly her entire life. Eva retired after many years of service from the Bank of America, where she worked in several of the Southern NJ branch offices. Since her childhood, she was an active member of the Hornerstown Baptist Church. Eva enjoyed crocheting and floral gardening. She was a devoted caregiver to her extended family, and opened her home to her siblings, nieces and nephews for annual holiday dinners.
Wife of the late Joseph S. Rockhill, she was predeceased by her parents, Wilhelmina (Quicksill) Van Hise and William Van Hise; her late sisters, Virginia Tantum, Alma Goff and Dorothy ""Nancy"" Faber. Eva is survived by a brother-in-law, Charles Faber; a sister-in-law, Margaret Rockhill; three nephews, William H. Tantum, Ed Rockhill and David Rockhill; six nieces, Sharon Hurley, Lynette Foulks, Lana Jo Stasko, Donna Miscoski, Diana Avery and Nola Noller as well as several great-nephews and great-nieces.
Relatives and friends will be received on Saturday from 9:30am until 11am at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 South Main Street, Allentown, NJ, 08501. Her funeral service will follow at 11am in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Emley's Hill U.M.C. Cemetery.
