Eva Updike Mather, 92, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the Masonic Home of New Jersey in
Burlington
where she was a resident.

. A graduate of
Princeton
High School
, Class of 1938, she held the distinction of being elected the first female student council president. Mrs. Mather also attended
Beaver
College

Jenkintown

Pennsylvania
.
Mrs. Mather actively volunteered at
Princeton
Hospital
, serving for many years on the Hospital Aid Committee and two years as Director of the Hospital Aid Shop, and also at the Masonic Home where she was honored in 2007 for 5000 hours of volunteer service. She was a past member of Trinity Church of Princeton, serving on the Altar Guild; Daughters of the American Revolution; Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 91; the Present Day Club of Princeton, and a Charter member of Princeton Hook and Ladder Company Ladies Auxiliary.
Married for 62 years, she was the wife of the late Maurice A. Mather of
Princeton
and sister to the late Edgar S. Updike and Raymond F. Updike. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Samuel S. and Cynthia K. Mather of
Pennington
,
NJ
; daughter and son-in-law Constance M. and James W. Calhoun of
Salem
,
SC
; four grandchildren, and four great grandchildren. Her family and friends will dearly miss this special and endearing woman.
A private memorial service will be held at
Trinity
Church
at the convenience of the family with burial to follow at
Princeton
Cemetery
