Eugene J. Schwartz, 82, of Cream Ridge, died Saturday at Kennedy Medical Center, of Cherry Hill. Born in Trenton, he resided in the Hamilton area before moving to Cream Ridge 22 years ago. He retired as Yardmaster for the Pennsylvania RailRoad/Conrail after 42 years. He was a WWII Army veteran, a member of the Church of the Assumption in New Egypt, the Bordentown Elks BPOE #2085 and the Catholic War Veterans.
Grandfather of the late Kevin Bryant, he is survived by his wife of 61 years Marie A. Schwartz (nee Ostermier) a son; Charles Schwartz of Mt. Laurel. Six daughters and three sons-in-law; Margaret (Peggy) Bryant of Springfield, MA., Patricia (Rickie) and Thomas Burzachiello of Clearwater, FL., Marie Lukacs of Allentown, NJ., Eleanor and John Niagas of Hamilton Twsp., Jeanne Shortino of Hamilton Twsp. And Theresa and Bill Sparks of New Egypt. 16 grandchildren; Jeff, Mike and Keith Bryant. Steve Bryant and his wife Season, Kelly Pittman and her husband Tim, Tommy Burzachiello and his wife Norie, Paula Longo, George P. IV and Tim Klein, Jaimie Lukacs, Christy Takacs and her husband Brian, Melissa Marino and her husband Mike, Jeanna and Philip Shortino, Bill Sparks and his wife Leslie and Rob Sparks. 14 great grandchildren, a nieces and nephews including Betty Ann Wheeler and her husband Skip of Little Egg Harbor.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 11 am at the Assumption Roman Catholic Church, 74 Evergreen Rd., New Egypt. Interment will follow in the Brig. Gen. Wm C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown. Friends may call Thursday 7 pm to 9 pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St., Allentown, NJ.
