Ethel H. Emley, 74, of New Egypt, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014 at her home. Born and raised in Cream Ridge, she was a lifelong area resident. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, Ethel was a Sunday school teacher, a 4-H leader where she taught her passion of sewing, and the bookkeeper for Emley Family Farm.


Daughter of the late Walter and Jennie Polhemus, she was predeceased by her brother, Donald Polhemus and her great grand daughter, Emma Verhoog. Ethel is survived by her loving husband of 56 years Ronald D. Emley Sr.; two sons, Edgar Emley and his wife, Lisa of New Egypt and Ronald Emley Jr. and his fiancé, Tara Bosco of New Egypt; three daughters, Teresa Verhoog and her husband, Garry of Manitoba, Canada, Denise Thomson and her husband, Leif of Cochranville, PA and Sandra Maholik and her husband, Robert of Manahawkin; two brothers, Herbert Polhemus and his wife, Tootie of VA and Arnold Polhemus and his wife, Shirley of Hightstown; three sisters, Ruth Krukowski of Trenton, Dorothy Hamnett and her husband, William of Allentown and Naomi Herbert of AL; a sister-in-law, Nancy Hurley and her husband, Harry of NC; 17 grandchildren, Jessica, Matthew (Kari), Joshua (Krystal), Micah (Crystal), Noah, Luke, Seth and Jonah Verhoog, Eliza and Lauren Thomson, Renay, Justin, and Carolina Maholik, Melissa, Nicole, and John Emley and Maggie Emley and four great grandchildren, Xaris, Havilah, Keziah and Alethea Verhoog; also aunt and great aunt to many.


A funeral service will be held 1pm Friday, July 18th at Peppler Funeral Home, 114 South Main St. Allentown. Interment will follow in Emley's Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 11am until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Joan Dancy & PALS (People with ALS) Foundation Riverview Medical Center, P. O. Box 8157, Red Bank, NJ 07701, the foundation that was so helpful with care and support.
