Eric Sortore, 55, of Hamilton and Allentown, New Jersey peacefully went to be with his Lord, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, July 9, 2012 after courageously living with pancreatic cancer. Eric grew up in Hamilton and attended Steinert High School where he ran cross country, swam and graduated in the top 10 of his class. Eric graduated Magna Cum Laude from Eastern College with a B.S. in Chemistry and a minor in Biology and Mathematics. He went on to be a senior research chemist and had been employed at FMC Corp. and Bristol Myers Squibb. He left the industry for 3 years to be a teacher at Trenton Christian Academy. Eric was passionate about his many hobbies and his favorite place was his barn work shop. He enjoyed building and sailing boats, woodworking, playing the guitar and banjo, driving his horse cart and forever repairing the many family auto needs. He loved working with youth as seen by his involvement in 4H, The Boy Scouts, Awana, Sunday School and science demonstrations for children. Eric was a member of the Graceway Bible Church of Trenton where he served as an elder and a deacon.  This loving father had all the attributes of the Scout law; trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent. Eric passed into eternity as they read the scripture ""For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain"" (Philippians 1:21).  He was a loved and respected man who enriched the lives of everyone that knew him through his unique gifts and service.

Eric devoted his life to his family; his adoring wife of 29 years, Fay, his son Ross and daughter-in-law Renee and their two children Sadie and Tristan, his son Kyle and daughter-in-law Meg, his daughter Ellen and his son Lee. Eric was the son of Judy and the late Kimball Sortore and is survived by his brother Chris Sortore, sister Katy Albanese and dear friend Dave Kirkwood.

Eric's life will be celebrated at Graceway Bible Church, 1934 Klockner Ave, Hamilton, NJ on Saturday July 14th at 3:00 PM preceded by calling hours from 1:00-3:00 PM.
