Emma H. Spence, 95, of Yardville, passed away Monday, October 12th at Mercerville Center. Born in Nanticoke, PA, she was a resident of the Yardville area for over 50 years and was a descendant of many original U.S. Quaker settlers including the Swain, Cooper and Gaskill families. Mrs. Spence was a graduate of St. Luke's and Children's Hospital of Philadelphia School of Nursing. She worked for many years as a Registered Nurse for Princeton Medical Center and St. Francis and volunteered for the Yardville First Aid Squad. She was active in the Hamilton Twp. Historical Society, was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and was a Girl Scout leader in Crosswicks. Mrs. Spence was also a Democratic committee woman, active with elections and polling and was a real estate agent in Crosswicks and Plainsboro for several years. She was also an accomplished quilter and needlework artist and shared her talent as an instructor for the Hamilton and Ewing Adult Education Centers.

Predeceased by her husband of 64 years, William E. Spence and mother of the late Susan Lea Spence, she is survived by her children and their spouses, Carol and Angelo Aulletta of Skillman, Nancy Morrow of Jacobstown, Richard and Claire Spence of Cherry Hill, Tim and Eileen Spence of Hamilton, Bill and Kathy Spence of Cherry Hill and Joanne and Bob Haines of Yardville; her grandchildren, Erinn Auletta , Jennifer Serowick, Michael, David and Dan Morrow, Erica Rohr, Allison Wilson, Chris, Brian, Amanda, Colin and Katie Spence and Bobby, Ryan and Adam Haines; her great grandchildren, Jack, Jules, Henry, Celia, Alex, Alexis, Decker, Tyler, Sophia, Joseph, Carolyn, Meghan, Ella, and Lachlan as well as many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held 10am Monday, October 19th at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery, Allentown. Friends may call Sunday from 7-9pm at the funeral home.
