Emily Anna O'Hagan, 91, passed away, peacefully after a brief illness, Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Rosegarden Nursing Home, Toms River NJ. Born in Hamilton Township, NJ on January 13 th 1920, Emily lived in Trenton NJ, Lambertville, NJ, Powderhorn, CO and Whiting, NJ before moving to Toms River. She and her late husband, Earle H. O'Hagan, I, raised 5 children. Emily and her husband were married 71 years. Emily and her husband Earle enjoyed over 14 years of cross-country travel in their motorhome visiting family and friends from one end of the country to the other. This truly was the joy of Emily and Earle's lives. From their cabin in Colorado at 9,000 feet, that Emily helped her husband build with their own hands, to the coasts of California and Florida, the Pinelands of New Jersey, Emily and Earle spread their love to any and all who would receive them. Emily had the ability to unconditionally love and respect those that were blessed enough to have met her. She truly prayed for all to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior and to know and believe of his Love and forgiveness.
Daughter of the late Charles and Carrie Burtis of Allentown, NJ, wife of the late Earle H. O'Hagan, I, mother of the late Burtis E. O'Hagan and Carole L. Fajgier, sister of the late Robert Burtis, Marjorie Sweet, Jennie O'Hagan, Laura Schwager and Shirley Pitmann she is survived by her daughter, June E. Bodine and her husband Richard of Bangor, PA and two sons, Barry O'Hagan of West Trenton, NJ and Earle H. O'Hagan, II and his wife Debbie of Beachwood, NJ, two sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolynn & Ben Giehl, of Allentown, NJ and Jackie & Edgar Peppler of Columbus, NJ. She was blessed with 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Emily's family would like to thank the staff of Rosegarden Nursing Home for their love and care of this wonderful woman and mother. We would also like to thank Caring Hospice Services of Edison, NJ for their kindness and compassion.
Friends may call on Saturday, April 2, 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Pepper Funeral Home, Allentown, NJ. Services will follow at 11:00 AM at the Peppler Funeral Home. Interment will follow immediately after the service at Allentown Methodist Cemetery, Allentown NJ. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Al-Anon, 761 Cass Street, Trenton, NJ 08611.
