Burlington – Emily W. Brick, 94, died peacefully Saturday at Masonic Village of Burlington. She was born in Camden, NJ on March 6, 1928, daughter of the late Charles Raymond Wickes II and Emily (Lippincott) Wickes. Preceded in death also by her brother, Charles R. Wickes III who referred to Emily as "Sis" along with several Wickes relatives. She lived in Merchantville during her childhood/adolescent years, developing 7 life-long friends, fondly known as the "Kindergarten Group". After moving to Crosswicks at the age of 17, Emmy graduated from Bordentown High School in 1946. Crosswicks is the town she lived in for the next 55 years, moving 3 times on the same Street, Ward Avenue.
Emmy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Kenneth Brick, to whom she was happily married for 54 years. Her greatest pleasure was being around family and friends. She spent endless hours supporting, nurturing her husband, 2 sons,3 grandsons and 2 great granddaughters. In Emmy's free time, she enjoyed playing tennis and golf, as well as, playing in various bridge clubs most of her adult life. In her later years, in lieu of above, Emmy enjoyed watching tennis, golf, the Phillies, as well as Duke & 'Nova' basketball on TV. In addition to being a Homemaker, Emmy Lou was the first secretary of the Country Pool Club, PTA member, Cub Scout Den Mother, member of the Burlington Co. Country Club, served on the Board of Directors of the NJ Association for Insurance in Crosswicks, and worked various NJ/CT State Fairs promoting the family business, Brick's Mince Meat.
Emmy is survived by her two sons and daughter-in-law, K. Michael Brick of Bordentown, NJ and Christopher R. and Alison J. Brick of Long Neck, DE; 3 grandsons, Christopher D. Brick and his husband, Matthew J. Tarasi of Sewickley, PA, Matthew R. and Jeanine M. Brick of Chalfont, PA, and Andrew D. Brick and fiancée, Rachel Weiss of Media, PA; and 2 great granddaughters: Molly and Katelyn Brick.
A Memorial Service will be held according to the Society of Friends Sunday August 28 th at 3PM in the Crosswicks Friends Meeting House. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Masonic Village of Burlington, 902 Jacksonville Road, Burlington, NJ 08016. Arrangements are under the direction of the Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown, NJ.
