Elma B. Turp, 90, of Yardville, passed away Thursday, January 31, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her family.  Born in Groveville, she was a lifetime resident of the Groveville/Yardville area and a member of Groveville United Methodist Church. Elma retired from Yardville Elementary School in 1992 where they planted a tree in her honor.  She loved being a teacher and the many students she taught over her 30 years there. She enjoyed life on the family property "the Hilltop" with family and friends, perpetuating the legend of Henry the Elf, sharing stories of her students, traveling and playing the piano. She also told of speaking to Albert Einstein when she was 17 at Carnegie Lake at Princeton.

Daughter of the late George M. and Elma Robinson Borden, she was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, David H. Turp and her grandson, Justin David Turp.  Elma is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Georgianna and Joseph Bonsanto of Yardville and Gwen Turp of Annapolis, MD; her grandson, Brandon Turp as well as several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 8 ^th from 6 - 8 pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St., Allentown.  A memorial service will be held Saturday, February 9 ^th , 11am at the Groveville United Methodist Church. Interment will be held in the Spring.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Elma's name to the Groveville United Methodist Church, 447 Church St., Groveville, NJ 08620.
