Obituary

Elizabeth Barbara Melton Burrows , 72, of Bordentown, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on October 1, 2023, with her children by her side. Born on November 8, 1951, in New Brunswick, New Jersey, she was the daughter of Elizabeth Emmons and the late Robert Emmons.

Sissy, as she was affectionately known, was a free spirit with a zest for life.  Sissy enjoyed indulging in mystery/crime novels in her free time, immersing herself in thrilling stories. She had a deep love for the outdoors and cherished moments spent at the beach, camping in the woods, and casting her line into the water. But above all, she cherished moments spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Sissy dedicated 27 years of her life to the United States Postal Service as a mail handler. She was known for her generosity and ability to bring her co-workers joy. Sissy had a talent for party planning and organized numerous work functions throughout her career.

Sissy is survived by her mother, Elizabeth Emmons, and her siblings Russell, Robert, Barbara, Alan, June, Carole, and Maryellen. She also leaves behind her children David Melton II, Erica Melton, and Alicia Cromwell (spouse Timothy Cromwell), as well as her cherished grandchildren Logan & Mitchel "Mickey" Melton, Jonathan "Jon" Yost, Joseph "Jac" and Thomas "TJ" Cromwell, and stepdaughters Nicole Pareso and Felicia Hibbits.  In addition, Sissy leaves behind her ex-husband and "sister wife" David and Jane Melton, and her dearest friends Florence and Alan Merrill.

Services for Sissy will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, October 11th at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St. Bordentown. Friends and family may attend a viewing from 6pm until 8pm on Tuesday, October 10th and again from 10am until the time of service on Wednesday.

Sissy's vibrant spirit, love for her family, and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. May her memory be a source of comfort and strength to those who mourn her loss.
