Elizabeth Cecelia, Klausman (nee Schritenthal), age 98, of Whiting, passed away Thursday May 22nd at Van Dyke Hospice, Toms River. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she was raised in Highland Park before moving to Metuchen and then in the mid 1970's to Whiting. A graduate of Highland Park High School, Betty previously worked for Johnson and Johnson in North Brunswick. She was an avid reader and loved to do crafts including sewing, crocheting, knitting and tatting. Betty enjoyed many years of traveling, especially to Florida and Canada with the Senior Citizens and friends. She also enjoyed playing cards, watching American Idol and Jeopardy and spending time with her family and friends.
Wife of the late Willard Bauer Klausman, her beloved husband of 57 years, she was predeceased by her daughter, Linda Tortajada; a brother, Andrew Schritenthal and two sisters, Ebba Miller and Irene Miller; Betty is survived by a son-in-law Richard Tortajada of Franklin Park; her grandchildren, William Tortajada of Kendall Park, Elizabeth Tortajada of Monmouth Junction and Christina and her husband Raymond Bongiorno of Franklin Park; her great grandsons, Joseph, Vincent and William Bongiorno all of Franklin Park; two nieces, Delores Van Liew of Highland Park and Lois Osowski of Florida and a great niece, Lauren Mitchell of Bordentown.
Graveside service will be held Wednesday 11am at Franklin Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, Route 27 and Cozzens Lane, North Brunswick. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 3076 Princeton Pike Lawrenceville, NJ
