Eleanor J. Bonsanto , 91, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Samaritan Hospice, in Mt Holly, with her loving family by her side. Born in Fort Lee, NJ, she had lived in Hoboken and New York, prior to moving to Bordentown 60 years ago.
Eleanor and her husband owned and operated Crescent Sportswear in Bordentown, where she was a furrier and became the first woman to run a monogram machine. She was a member of St. Mary's Church and its Alter Rosary Society and was on the board of visiting nurses. She will be deeply missed by all.
Predeceased by her parents: Joseph and Josephine Maniaci, her sisters Grace LoCicero and husband Paul, Rose Castaldo and her husband Anthony, and her brother Salvatore Maniaci and her beloved husband of 66 years: Nicholas C. Bonsanto, she is survived by her children: Nicholas A Bonsanto and his wife Erika of Columbus, Lucy R Pompile and her husband Richard of Chesterfield and Joseph and Georgianna of Yardville. Seven grandchildren: Nicholas Bonsanto and his wife Michelle, Michael S. Bonsanto, Lucy Wilson and her husband Miguel, Kenneth C. Meister III, Daniel R Pompile and his wife Cristina, Matthew J Pompile and Philip J Pompile and his wife Christine. Eight great grandchildren: Nichele, Julia, Nicholas, Frankie, Felicia, Mercedes, Austin and Paige and a great-great grandson Casper, and several nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am Saturday, December 28 at St. Mary's Church, 45 Crosswicks St, Bordentown. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Family and friends may call Friday evening 7 to 9 pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown.
