Elaine L. Schaaf, 86, of Allentown, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 21, 2015 at Princeton Care Center, two days before her 87th birthday. Born in Norristown, PA she was a longtime Allentown area resident. Elaine worked as a switchboard operator for Bell Telephone and later retired from Valentines Equipment Rental in Hamilton. She was also active with Shadyrest Bible Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, an office worker and a bus driver. Elaine was devoted to her family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Daughter of the late Harry S. and Olivia L. Hartman, she was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Benjamin C. Schaaf and her sisters, Gwendolyn, Sylvia, Joyce and Caroline. Elaine is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Benjamin C. Jr. and Bonnie Schaaf of Murfreesboro, TN; their children Edward and Tina and six grandchildren; her son and daughter-in-law, Raymond H. and Cynthia Schaaf of Windsor, their children Raymond Jr., Samantha, Steven and Carly and one grandson; her brother Harry "Hank" Hartman as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 12pm on Wednesday, August 26th at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8pm and again Wednesday from 11am until the time of service at the funeral home. Flowers are welcome.
