Egon J. ""Jack"" Makkay, passed away Tuesday, July 14th at CentraState Hospital, Freehold. He was 87. Jack was a long time resident of New Jersey, arriving here in 1955. Born in Brasov, Transylvania in 1921, he was employed at RCA Astro Space in Hightstown as a manufacturing engineer developing and aiding in the building of communication satellites during the beginning years. He also operated a commercial sign business, Central Art, in Allentown before retiring. A longtime member of the German American Club in Yardville, he served for a time as the secretary of the organization.

He is survived by a brother Willhelm, residing in Germany; his children, John, Walter and Richard Makkay, Margarete Naperski, Evelyn Sienkiewicz and Angela Makkay; as well as 7 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

A memorial will be held at a later date and his ashes will then be taken back to Europe.
