Edward J. Smires, Sr., 73, passed away Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at the Hospital at University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Born in Trenton and raised in Lawrenceville, he moved to New Hope, PA 23 years ago. A graduate of Trenton High, Ed served in the US Army National Guard during the Vietnam Era. He retired from American Standard in Trenton and most recently worked for CVS in New Hope. Ed was a former Den Master for Cub Pack 63. He loved taking family vacations and adored his grandchildren.
Predeceased by his wife Judith Wyckoff Smires; his sister, Eleanor Napoleon and his brothers, Thomas Smires and Clarence "Pete" Smires, Ed is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Donald Robbins and their children, Emily and Amanda; his son and daughter-in-law, Edward Jr. and Patricia Smires and their children, Natalie, Ashley and Matthew; his sisters, Estella Smires, Clara Briggs and her husband, George and Diane Smires; his sister-in-law, Christine Smires; his dear friend, Richard Frederick; a special cousin, Carlton Smires, and his wife, Paulette, as well as many nieces and nephews, cousins and extended family members.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon on Saturday, February 22 nd at Peppler Funeral Home, 114 So. Main St. Allentown. Interment will follow in Cream Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call on Saturday from 10am until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lambertville-New Hope Ambulance & Rescue Squad, 70 Alexander Ave, Lambertville, NJ 08530.
