Edward O. Dyer, 90, of Florence, passed away Monday, July 4, 2011 at Hamilton Grove Healthcare. Born in Trenton, he was a resident of Hamilton for most of his life. A World War II Veteran serving in the US Coast Guard, Edward worked at the Luscombe and Switlik Parachute Companies before purchasing his father's insurance business. He and his wife, Doris, ran the Edward O. Dyer Insurance Agency until his retirement. Edward was a member of St. Gregory the Great Church since 1957 where he was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 7677. He was a talented musician and was very active in community organizations.
Son of the late Stewart H. and Anna O'Donnell, he was predeceased by his father, Edward A. Dyer, his wife W. Doris Dyer; his daughter, Linda Buckalew; his grandson, Victor Mueller; two sisters, Miriam Ringkamp and Gloria Rigby and his stepson William Zamborsky. Edward is survived by his wife, Carolyn Dyer; three children and their spouses: Carol and Victor Mueller, Pat and Frank Tanzini and Ed and Kathy Dyer; five stepchildren and spouses: Barbara Wilfing, Annette and Robert Fitzsimmons, Jane and Sean O' Brien, Val and Barbara Zamborsky and Joseph and Karen Zamborsky; a brother, Stuart H. O'Donnell; two sisters, Vivian Mellick, and Joan O'Donnell; many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews including a special nephew, R. Christopher Walton and several very close friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 am Saturday, July 9 th at St. Gregory the Great Church, Hamilton Square. Interment will follow in No. Crosswicks Cemetery in Hamilton. Friends may call Saturday from 9:00 to 11:00 am at the Peppler Funeral Home 114 So. Main St. Allentown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
