Obituary

Edward J. Arbaczawski, age 85, of Whiting, passed away, Monday, January 14, 2013 at The Pines at Whiting.  Born in Maspeth, NY, he was raised in Freehold and was a longtime resident of Cream Ridge before moving to Whiting.  A US Marine Corp veteran serving during WW II and Korea, his service included duty on the USS Pasadena, USS Bremerton and USS Boxer.  He played center for the USMC Pearl Harbor and Quantico Marines football teams.  He also marched with the famed Twenty-second Marine Battalion during the 1949 Presidential Inaugural Parade in Washington DC.   Edward retired from McGuire AFB where he worked as an aircraft mechanic. For 30 years, Edward was an active volunteer for the Monmouth County 4-H.  He was the former Upper Freehold Township Dog Warden and previously served on the Monmouth County Environmental Council.

Predeceased by his wife of 58 years, Frances E. Arbaczawski, he is survived by his daughters, Sheila and her husband, John Bell of Plainville, MA, Holly Arbaczawski of Newton, MA, Michele and her husband Guy Horner of Princeton and Amanda and her husband Robert Mattarazzo of Feeding Hills, MA; six grandchildren, Melissa, Matthew, Christopher, Jordan, Elizabeth and Andrew as well as many nieces and nephews.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 am on Friday, January 18 th at Church of the Assumption, 28 Monmouth Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562.  Interment will follow in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery .  Friends may call Thursday from 5 to 8 pm at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St. Allentown .  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 400 Morris Ave., Suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834-1365.
