Obituary

Edna M. Padlo , 104 passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025.  Edna was born in Bordentown and lived there until her marriage in 1956.  She then moved into the home she and her husband built in Hillsborough, New Jersey and lived out her years there.

During her adult life, Edna was employed by Switlik Parachute Company, Yardville, NJ during World War II as an inspector of parachutes.  After the war, Edna received a letter of gratitude from a soldier who used her parachute which saved his life.  Edna was also employed at Fairless Hills Steel Plant, Fairless Hills, PA, and ended her career by retiring from Ethicon, Inc., (a subsidiary of J & J) located in Somerville, NJ as an inspector of surgical needles.

Edna was a kind, loving aunt to her nieces, nephews, and their friends over the years.  She delighted in hosting family dinners, picnics, and Christmas gatherings with her husband.  A great pleasure of hers in her younger years was dancing, and she met her husband at a dance at the Hightstown Country Club in 1955.  In her senior years, Edna enjoyed traveling on bus trips with her sister and their spouses.  She was a great cook and spent much of her spare time, freezing the vegetables from their garden.  As a member of the First United Methodist Church in Somerville, NJ, she would volunteer to make the chocolate Easter eggs for their annual fundraiser.  Never one to sit idle, crocheting occasionally was a hobby of hers.

Daughter of the late Laura and George Anderson of Bordentown, she was predeceased by her beloved husband of 55 years, Vladimir (Pat) Padlo, and her sister, Marion Henry Cienkowski of Southampton, NJ and nephews, Joseph and Sean Varga.  Edna is survived by several nieces and nephews, the closest being Patricia (Henry) Varga, Meghan (Varga) Lettiere, both of Bordentown, Glenn, Douglas, and Honey Padla of Hillsborough, NJ, and Stanley Wantrobski, of Washington, NJ.  Edna leaves behind her very dedicated caregiver and loving friend, Isabel Alvarez Gonzalez.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 19th at Peppler's Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks Street, Bordentown, NJ.  Friends may call from 10:00 to 12:00.  Interment will be at the Bordentown Cemetery.
