Sprague
January 19, 1924 – April 13, 2020
Edith P. Sprague, age 96 of Columbus, passed away at The Masonic Village at Burlington on April 13, 2020. Born in West Windsor, she was raised on a farm in Dutch Neck and graduated from Princeton High School. Edith worked for ETS in Princeton and was part of the Princeton University Wartime Project during WWII and from 1944 to 1948 where she traveled the nation with "Elsie the Cow" selling war Bonds. She and her
husband owned and operated a farm in Chesterfield. Edith was active in the community and Chesterfield Elementary School acknowledged her contributions by naming a portion of the school in her honor. She was a member of Chesterfield Baptist Church since 1951 and the Hamilton Square Grange Farmer's Association. Her family and friends were very dear to her and she will be deeply missed.
Daughter of the late David and Grace Perrine, she was predeceased by her husband L. Leroy Sprague, her sister Anna Webber and her brother Bergen Groendyke. Edith is survived by her five daughters, Patricia Sprague of Australia, Kathleen Reed and her husband, Charles of Marlton NJ, Constance Hall and her husband, Douglas of NC, Janet Schino of Columbus NJ and Nancy Williams of Florida; seven grandchildren, Jason and Annika Berlingieri, Charles and Matthew Reed, Jennifer Schino and Forrest and Caitlin Stanishewski; three great grandchildren Cain Berlingieri and Anthony and Sofia Morales; and a great great grandson Kyran Berlingieri; her sister, Mildred Dreessen, as well as many extended family members.
Services for Edith will be held Saturday, September 25, 2021 at the Chesterfield Baptist Church. A visitation with family reception line will be held from 10-11am with the memorial service beginning at 11am. A luncheon will be held in the church's all purpose room following the end of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Chesterfield Baptist Church, 209 Matthews Lane, Chesterfield, NJ 08515 or Acacia Hospice, 902 Jacksonville Road, Burlington, NJ 08016. Arrangements under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
