Earle H. O'Hagan I, 91, passed away Thursday at Rosegarden Nursing Home, in Toms River, with his family by his side. Born in Hamilton Township, NJ, he had lived in Lambertville, NJ.and Whiting before moving to Toms River. He owned and operated Bottled Water and Cooler Rental Service, in Lambertville, NJ for many years. He was an exempt member of the White Horse Fire Company, Lakeside Civic Association and celebrated 53 years with Alcoholics Anonymous on January 13th 2007, Founder of the AL-AN Club, Trenton NJ, homebase for thousands of recovering Alcoholics. After gaining his sobriety in 1954 he dedicated his life to helping others to recover from alcoholism. He will always be remembered as ""A friend of Bill W"". Earle also is the author of ""A Humble Tale"", a wealth of stories about twelve step calls and Earle's concern about following the ""Big Book"". Earle and Emily enjoyed over 14 years of cross country travel in their motorhome. Visiting friends and family from one end of the country to the other truly was the joy of Earle and Emily's lives. From the cabin in Colorado at 9000 ft., that Earle and Emily built with their own hands, to the coasts of California and Florida the Pinelands of New Jersey, Earle and Em spread their love to any and all who would receive them. Earle never hesitated to get involved with any and all projects, from clogged plumbing to devastating addictions, Earle offered ""Free Advice"". It was President Ronald Reagans funeral that would change Earle's life again, seeing the outpouring of love and affection for a man with so many talents, and yet what seemed to stand out most abput President Reagan was his faith in Christ. Earle made a leap of faith that day and prayed to have Jesus Christ come into his life at 88 years young. He was baptized shortly after at his childhood Church in Ellisdale NJ.
Son of the late William and Ethel O'Hagan and brother to the late Jennie Stackhouse of New Smyna Beach FL.. Father of the late Burtis E. O'Hagan and Carole Fajgier, he is survived by his wife of 71 years Emily A. O'Hagan, Two sons and a daughter-in-law; Barry O'Hagan of West Trenton and Earle H. O'Hagan II and his wife Debbie of Beachwood, NJ. A daughter ; June E. Bodine and her husband Richard of Bangor, PA., Two brothers; Stanley O'Hagan of Cream Ridge and Forrest O'Hagan of White Horse. 17 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Dad you will be missed by all who met you, but never more than by your sons Barry and Earle and your Daughter June. Thank you for your incredible spirit. Although your wife Emily misses you, she knows you have been set free from the earthly vessel that you wore so well for so many years, and now are rejoicing in Heaven.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday July 24th, 12 noon at the Peppler Funeral Home, 114 S. Main St., Allentown, NJ. Interment will follow in Allentown Methodist Cemetery, Allentown.
