Obituary

Douglas L. Ruck , (Doug) 92, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at the Edward M. Poe Hospice Care Center in Titusville, FL. Born in New Brunswick, NJ he had resided in Hillsborough and Columbus, NJ prior to moving to Merritt Island, FL and then Titusville, FL.

Doug was a machinist by trade, and he worked in and retired from plant engineering at RCA/GE in Somerville, NJ. He was active in the Marines from 1951 to 1953 where he was stationed at Marine Corps Air Station El Toro in Orange County, CA. He has been an active Mason with Raritan Valley Lodge #46 since 1963.

Doug and his wife of 67 years, Dorothy, were members of the Somerset Sail and Power Squadron and the Providence Presbyterian Church of Burlington. Doug had varied interests and hobbies, many of which he has passed the love of to his family and friends. He was a storyteller and enjoyed sharing his experiences with others. Some of his greatest adventures were riding his motorcycle from coast to coast with Dotty, sailing on the Eastern Seaboard, camping everywhere between Florida and Maine, and building and flying radio-controlled airplanes. He treasured the friendships he made along the way, and looked forward to their visits, whether they were annual trips or weekly FaceTime conversations. He was a family man with a silent strength, and he thoroughly enjoyed watching his family grow and succeed in all of their passions: motorcycle races, marching band performances, dance recitals, horse shows, softball games, taekwondo. Whatever the event, he was there to cheer them on.

Predeceased by his wife, Dorothy; his brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Sigga Ruck; his parents, Melvin and Margaret Ruck; and his son-in-law, Larry C. House, he is survived by his daughter Leslie Ruck House of Titusville, FL and his son and daughter-in-law Larry and Sharon Lindbloom Ruck of Hamilton Square, NJ. He is also survived by his granddaughters: Melissa, Elizabeth and Christina Ruck, Heather House Berrio (Andres), Ashley House Reninger (Aaron), Alissa House Reninger (Luke) and Rebecca House Mauchly (Caleb) and 10 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
