Douglas Blackford, 84, of Bordentown, NJ passed away on Dec. 29, 2011 of esophageal cancer in St. Francis Hospital, Trenton, NJ.

Mr. Blackford was the loving father of four children, Kathleen DeMarco, Michael Blackford, Frith Evans, and Eric Blackford, his wife, Leslie.  He was also the loving grandfather of 4 grandchildren, James Salata , his wife, Ginger; Stephen Blackford, his wife Krista; Lindsay Blackford,  Justin Blackford, and has 2 great-grandchildren, Douglas and Michael Salata.  Douglas Blackford is also survived by his nephew, Alan Blackford and family.   Douglas is survived by his former wife, Eva Ziegler, her husband, Peter.

Douglas Blackford spent his career in radio and banking.  His early career was as a draftsman and then he moved into radio at WTOA as an announcer.  He followed that up with 2 years as the manager of the Bordentown Peoples Savings and Loan from 1965-1967.  He returned to radio, where he was the air traffic manager for WDVR in Philadelphia for many years.  He retired from Lenox, Inc.  Douglas was an avid reader of mystery and spy novels and was a classic movie fan.  He will be remembered always as a kind and generous man from all who knew him.

A memorial service will be held Friday, January 6th at 1 p.m. at Peppler's Funeral Home, 122 Crosswicks St, Bordentown, NJ.  Interment will follow in the New Jersey Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.
